Lucy Pearson // Wedding Hair & Makeup // Lake District

Professional Wedding Hair and Makeup Artist Based in The Lake District, Cumbria

I thought it would be useful to give you this step by step guide, showing you what happens throughout the wedding hair and make up process, from your trial to the big day. Every bride is individual, but this should help give you an idea of what to expect and how we will create your beautiful look together.

The Trial Day

Trials do tend to take place at my home in Kendal or if you're living or staying in the Lake District area I can travel to you. If neither of these options work please get in touch.

Prior to meeting it’s really helpful to collect images of hair and make up styles you would like to try out. This really helps to prevent a description getting lost in translation. If you need inspiration, why not follow my Facebook and Instagram pages.

It’s also great to see the style of wedding you’re having - pictures of the dress, flowers and accessories will help to make sure that your hair and make up fit in seamlessly.

Although it sounds like a long time, expect to spend 3-4 hours with me. It’s important all aspects are covered and I make sure every bride leaves her trial feeling completely happy and confident that the wedding morning will run perfectly. The trial is very thorough and is when I'll find out about any allergies or sensitivities you may have. If you'd like to read about the hair and make up products in my kit, including cruelty free and vegan, please click here.

Trials are documented with photographs and notes so that everything is recreated in exactly the same way on the wedding day.

I am always at the end of the phone or able to answer emails should you wish to make any changes after your trial and sometimes it necessary to go and have a think about what you think looks the best. Many brides makes changes after a trial, so don't worry, it’s part of the process and usually it’s an easy adjustment that will just be made on the wedding day. Occasionally a second trial maybe needed which is no trouble at all.

The wedding Day

Prior to the wedding day I will confirm with you the details and time for my arrival. Depending on the size of your wedding party and ceremony time, I will prepare a schedule for the morning so that each person knows when it’s their turn to be styled.

It’s usually an early start and I will firstly set up my styling area. Every wedding day is different and I will be flexible to accommodate the needs of the whole wedding party. Usually I start work on the brides hair first, then moving on to other hair requirements, leaving the make up until later to keep it fresh. This schedule allows the morning to proceed at a calm and relaxed pace so everyone can really enjoy being pampered.

I always stay with the bride until she leaves to get married, ensuring she and the wedding party are completely happy and look flawless, carrying out any final touches that may be necessary and of course helping to add the veil.
